Pond is primarily cattail marsh, with a 150 sq. meter patch of bulrush. The cattail marsh is dominated by red-winged blackbirds, also nesting. The tricolored blackbirds were only in the bulrush. Birds were noted foraging immediately adjacent to the pond, in the grasslands (2750 meters x 1500 meters).
