Difficult to estimate number of birds at the dairy because colonies are asynchronous. Some birds are fledging (field A2), others are feeding nestlings (field A5), while others (fields A1, A6, A7) are still incubating, and one field (A6) appeared to be in presettlement. The numbers reported here are the numbers of birds seen by Cathy Henry and myself. I believe there are more birds present, and that we were not able to see them due to incubation. Several of the fields were very quiet and I know, from observations made in previous weeks, that the birds were incubating. The actual number of birds could easily be three times higher than what I've reported.
