Linda Leeman and Leo Edson, observers. 830-1030 AM on April 14, 2011. Area surveyed included Avenal state prison, publicly accessible hills to the northwest and agricultural fields to the east of highway 33.

Males vigorously displaying and singing from north corner of wheat silage field south of Avenal State Prison, and west of Hwy 33. Mustard was interspersed with wheat. Females observed inspecting grass nesting materials, but no nest building observed. Adults were foraging on state prison grounds, where there are egg production facilities and water detention basin.
