Ratio of males:females appeared to be about 9:10.
Birds did NOT appear to be nesting yet. However the flock was observed in same exact location on both 16 April and 17 April. It was a mixed flock: Tricolored Blackbird, yellow-headed blackbird, red-winged blackbirds and a few Brewer's blackbirds, starlings, house sparrows and white-crowned sparrows. Birds seemed to be settled in and on typhus in southeasternmost farm pond, but gunshots in distance startled them and they all (except about 2 male and 3 female tricoloreds) flew off, many settling on cattails in pond area adjacent to Eastside canal. The COUNT entered above is only the TRICOLOREDS, which represented about 40% of the flock.
