There were about 65 females and about 5 males present in the rim of reeds around the lake. Most of the weeds were recently burned in a controlled burn to improve Tricolored Blackbird habitat (for next year, I imagine). There are a few remaining weedy patches. There wasn't any singing going on, nor was there any evidence of nesting, but they might just be settling in.
